Basic Blackjack Rules

In order to understand how Double Exposure Blackjack is played, you must first understand the basic Blackjack rules. Of course there are a number of different extra rules or concessions which can be added depending on where you choose to play Blackjack but the basic rules are the same. The aim of Blackjack is to total your cards as close to 21 as possible. A natural Blackjack is when the two initial cards that you are dealt reach 21 with an Ace and a Face card. This is in fact where the name of Blackjack came from which is based on a Black Jack and an Ace.

As Close to Twenty One as Possible

If you do not land a natural Blackjack with the first two cards that are dealt to you, then the action begins. To start with you as the player have 2 cards and in a regular game, the dealer has two cards. Your cards are both face up but one of t he dealers cards is face down. The idea is that you decide to either draw more cards or stand i.e. draw no cards depending how close you are to 21. In some versions of the game you can also split your hand if you have two cards of the same or you can increase your bet and then choose just one more card, if you think you can win the hand. This is known as a double down. Once you have finished with your cards, the dealer then turns over more cards to see if he can reach 21 and therefore win the hand. Anything over 21 is bust and the other hand wins.
